The College of Law has recently altered its LLB curriculum in light of recommendations made by the Council on Higher Education as part of the National Review of the LLB. Inter alia, the modules hereunder are discontinued:
The above modules are not offered from 2018 and have been replaced in various permutations as you have been informed in communication received from the CLAW throughout the year.
The CLAW has however decided to offer an additional examination opportunity by way of portfolio for the above modules in January/February 2018 based on certain criteria. The arrangements are discussed hereunder.
1. WHAT ARE THE CRITERIA TO QUALIFY FOR THE JAN/FEB 2018 OPPORTUNITY?
The following students qualify to write in Jan/Feb 2018:
a) Students registered for one of the affected modules for the first time in the 2nd semester of 2017 who either failed, received a supplementary or applied for, and were granted, an aegrotat opportunity.
b) Students who wrote a supplementary or aegorotat in the 2nd semester of 2017 (in other words were 1st semester 2017 registrations who received an aegrotat or supplementary) and failed in the 2nd semester 2017.
2. WHAT IS THE FORMAT OF THE JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2018 OPPORTUNITY?
The January/February 2018 opportunity in the modules indicated above will take place by way of portfolio. The portfolio examination must be submitted on or before the due date indicate below via myUnisa in the same manner, in which an assignment is submitted.
3. WHEN WILL I BE NOTIFIED IF I QUALIFY FOR THE JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2018 OPPORTUNITY?
Once the examination results for OCT/NOV 2017 are officially released all qualifying students will receive an email on their myLife account indicating that they qualify for the January/February 2018 opportunity. It is then your responsibility to ensure that you log onto myUnisa and follow the instructions concerning the examination opportunity in the affected modules.
4. WHAT DATES HAVE BEEN SCHEDULED FOR RECEIPT AND SUBMISSION OF THE PORTFOLIO OPPORTUNITY
The dates for the portfolio opportunity are as follows:
The above dates indicate the date of release and the date of submission. For the sake of example, the portfolio for CMP2601 will be released at 00:01 on the 9th of January 2018 and must be submitted via myUnisa on or before 23:59 on the 10th of January 2018. Note that all submissions are electronic and NO HARDCOPY submissions are permitted. If you do not have access please ensure that you visit one of the Telecentres in order to submit the portfolio electronically.

NOTE: Portfolios will NOT be accepted via email to the lecturers concerned. All submissions must take place via myUnisa following the instructions contained in the specific portfolio.
5. WHERE WILL THE PORTFOLIO EXAMINATION BE POSTED?
On the date of release, you will be sent an email via your myLife account with a link to an announcement on myUnisa where you will find the portfolio attached. The portfolio examination will also be placed under the additional resources tab on the date of release. Follow the instructions on the portfolio with regard to submission and ensure that you comply with the requirement of submitting the declaration of authenticity. Please ensure that you submit in PDF format and that you do not LOCK or otherwise DISABLE THE EDITING function on the PDF. If you lock or otherwise disable the document, we will simply cancel the document, as we are unable to mark same.
